There are several different sizes of pinion and transfer case stake nuts used over the years.
This particular nut is typically found 08/1980 - 04/1985 Land Cruiser 40 & 60 Series & 08/1990 - 08/1993 Land Cruiser 80 Series Front Axle Applications with the stock ring and pinion (upgraded pinions typically use a larger nut for the higher spline count pinion shaft).

Note: these nuts are relatively soft, and a 6-point socket and hand tools are strongly advised when tightening into place. The 90179-20018 nut is much stronger, and has a built-in washer.
