Diesel Primer Pump - 3B, 2H, 12HT & Others

Replaces 22501-77021 with more modern Genuine Bosch part.

The original Toyota / Denso primer pump, that threads down into place to seal, will become leaky as it ages. These leaks can let air in or fuel out.

The fuel out issue is not very common unless the primer pump is not seated properly. It can be a larger issue or when being used to prime a new fuel filter - and lots of fuel will leak out.

Air leakage, on the other hand, can be a small annoying leak which is tricky to detect that can lead to hard starts and prolonged cranking, often with some grey or grey-blue smoke until the injection pump can produce full pressure at the injectors.

These older and very robust inline injection pumps are do not circulate fuel back to the fuel tank, and as a result are extremely intolerant of any air in the injection system. Even very small amounts of air from leaking primer pumps, leaking fuel/water separators, old decaying fuel hoses, or metal fuel lines that have rusted, will cause many challenges with hard starting.... check carefully for air leaks if you suspect this issue.
