Bolt, Washer Based - Toyota 2LTE, 3L Timing Tensioner (black)

This is the bolt that goes in the middle of the timing belt tensioner pulley.

This bolt should be replaced during a timing belt replacement as they can become stressed due to improper torque, age, vibration etc. If the bolt comes loose, it can cause the tensioner pulley to lose its tension on the timing belt. If the bolt breaks, it can get caught under the timing belt and cause the belt to break or come off the pulleys.

Note: As all diesel engines are interference engines, meaning the pistons will strike the valves if the timing is incorrect - as when happens if a belt skips teeth or breaks - there will be significant costly damage to the engine. We strongly recommend replacing all timing related bolts when doing a timing belt replacement - and these bolts are included in our timing belt kits.
