Matched set of 6 Connecting Rods - Toyota 1HZ-T, 1HDT, 1HD-FT, 1HD-FTE

Supplied only as a matched set of 6 Connecting Rods. Not individually.

These are a supplied as a matched set of 6 connecting rods (yes, lots of repetition).

If you are repairing or rebuilding your engine, you must carefully consider whether you replace one or two rods, or the whole set.

  • Rods in a matched set are balanced within 2 grams of each other.
  • Note: I have one set in stock as of July 2022 that is +/- 5 grams (1115, 1114, 1113, 1113, 1109, 1105) if you would like a little bit better of a deal, ask. The reason for the slightly decreased tolerance has to do with Australian flood damaged stock from earlier in 2022 where some parts got orphaned and then re-matched into new sets with a slightly greater range of tolerance. This is easily brought back to spec. if you are machining parts during a rebuild.
  • Both the big end and small end are machined for perfect fit of the connecting rod bearings and the wrist pin. Due to variations in some piston pins, the bushings may need a light hone depending on the tolerance of your piston pins.
  • The rods are also matched to provide matching piston protrusions across the board.

Individual rods - whether new or used - will require balancing for end-to-end and overall weight to match the other connecting rods in your set. They may need to be resized to provide the correct piston protrusion, evenly across all cylinders and to match the other rods, which can be time consuming and costly.

A matched set of connecting rods saves time and money and can greatly simplify your assembly by doing the job right the first time; replace your rods with a matched set of brand new connecting rods.

Note: A 'proper' 1HZ-T has different pistons from a standard 1HZ and requires the 1HDT style connecting rod which is shorter than a 1HZ rod and has a larger diameter 33mm wrist pin.  The wrist pin hole in a 1HZ-T piston is located further down the piston to allow for a thicker piston crown and different piston ring positioning.
