It is a required step to replace your head bolts each time you are repairing or replacing your cylinder head or cylinder head gasket. TTY bolts are not meant to be reused.

Note 1: Make sure the head bolt holes are properly cleaned out and fully dry prior to head bolt installation. Leaving solvent, water, or debris in the holes may cause improper torque or the threads to become damaged of stripped.

Note 2: that you use several drops of light oil on the threads, and a small amount of rebuilder’s grease or a drop or oil under the head of bolt and both sides of the washer while torquing in to place. Torque in 3 steps to 51 Ft. Lbs, then +90* & +90*.

The best lubricant for this task is ARP's Ultra Torque bolt lubricant 100-9908 (0.5 ounce packet), or 100-9909 (1.69 ounce tube).

M11x1.25 x 26 pcs

If you are going to risk re-using your old bolts - which is really, really not recommended - use vernier calipers and carefully measure the minimum outer diameter of the compressed thread at the measuring point (see Toyota FSM for details).

Standard outer diameter: 10.800-11.000 mm (0.4646-0.4724 in.)
Minimum outer diameter: 10.55 mm (0.4154 in.)
If the outer diameter is less than minimum, replace the bolt.
